![]() Brent Turley, a Senior Transportation Engineer with The Transpo Group and BYU alumnus, came and presented to student members on October 20, 2010. In his presentation, Brent spoke to students about opportunities in the field of transportation planning and demonstrated ViaCity, a GIS-based analysis tool created by The Transpo Group. ViaCity can be used to perform connectivity analysis between neighborhoods, measuring how connected locations are for pedestrian, bicycle, vehicular, and transit use. Using ViaCity, as shown on the right, city planners can assess the connectivity of their city before and after planned transportation improvements. They can see both how connected areas in their city will be and how much various areas will be affected. Though Brent was not there to invite students to interview with The Transpo Group after graduation, he did pass on his card and contact information to any who were interested in learning more. |
