Students from BYU ITE visited the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) Front Runner headquarters and the Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub on September 30, 2010. Matt Carter, the Front Runner Project Director and a BYU alumni, gave a presentation on the ongoing Trax and Front Runner projects. Students learned about the process involved with expanding the light rail and commuter train systems along the Wasatch Front. The Front Runner South project will add commuter rail service from Provo to Salt Lake City and is to be completed by 2015. Four new Trax lines will extend the current light rail service to the Salt Lake City Airport and to the cities of Draper, South Jordan, and West Valley City. |
After the presentation, students joined Matt to see the bus, light rail, and commuter train facilities at the Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub and ride the Front Runner North system. |
